Jorge Luis Sierra has provided newsrooms with twelve tips they can apply instantly to protect their digital systems, in this IJNet post.
Sierra advises hiring someone to hack into the system to find out where the newsroom's technical vulnerabilities lie, encouraging reporters and editors to use encryption tools when working on sensitive stories, and purchasing an SSL certificate if your team is involved in a crowdsourcing or whistleblowing project.
